The Kadance, The Dress & The Dress Form

Last week I had gotten a order for a uni-sex burp cloth, the parents want to be surprised. I found some super soft giraffe patterned fabric and multi colored polka dot fabric, I purchased both, even though I have a lot of fabric at home, I don't have any that would be good for uni-sex. While I was sewing the burp cloths I glanced over at all my other fabric and thought.....why don't I try to make another dress?!?!??!! I had made Kadance's baptism dress last October and thankfully it turned out exactly how I had envisioned it, plus I managed to not use a patterned. After I finished up the last burp cloth, I took the remainder of the giraffe fabric and started to measure and drape for a dress! I decided to kinda make it like those pillow dresses you keep seeing all over pinterest.
This was the ending result

I liked how the giraffe dress turned out, that the next day I made another out of some cute paisley flower material. I made it a little longer, more A frame shaped and did one bow instead of two. Kadance of course was my model again, but first I took some pictures with the dress on a kids dress form I bought at a local yard sale. Kadance wouldn't take pictures without the dress form in the shot.....she kinda loves the little torso LOL.

Oh I did get one with just her....yea the back of her LOL

From Connecticut to California

Our amazing friend Sheena came to visit with her boyfriend Chris on the 26th of July! We haven't see Sheena since July of 2009.....yes that is 3 years! She was suppose to move to California in August of 2009 and then she met Chris......that all changed and she stayed in Connecticut. I was so super sad that she wasn't moving here, but I knew she was happy. So, through the three years of talking about them coming to visit and a lot of convincing Chris that CA was amazing, they finally made it! PS this was Chris' first time in California.
Seth unfortunately had to work a lot while they were here, but good thing is he had Thursday and Friday off. We did Hollywood and Highland, The Griffith Observatory, went to Viva Fresh in Burbank to see 5th and Birmingham (Friends of ours that are in a country band), had a tour of CBS Studios (Thank you Jamie!!!) and In N Out 3 times =-( LOL! What can I say they LOVE In N Out!!!
When Saturday came around, Seth had to go to work, so we decided to get some shopping in down at the Camerillo Outlets. I decided to take them the scenic route.....126 threw Fillmore. Sunday we got up at 6:30 am and headed to Burbank/Toluca Lake, to see if we could find some amazing yard sales......bad idea, it was like everyone knew we wanted and were ready to yard sale. We found I think 5 and they were all a bust! The rest of the trip was pretty much spent at the pool, with a quick trip to DT to get some material for a tutu and a little alley shopping.
Walking down Hollywood Blvd.

Showering a New Angel and Mama

My beautiful friend Jennifer and her husband Andy are expecting their first baby in Sept and it's A GIRL!!! On Saturday we celebrated with a shower at her parents house! It was a gorgeous day, just perfect for a baby shower! Stephanie, Kadance and I came together and of course were a little late, thank goodness it didn't matter =) When we arrived I dropped off our gifts and put my purse down, then we headed to the drink table for a refreshing Mimosa with fresh fruit!
Kadance wanted to feel like one of the big girls, so I got her some orange juice in a pretty glass!
After we chatted, had appetizers and some drinks, Kristina's Kreations brought out an amazing spread of food!

While we were eating, our friend Kim and her mom arrived with Kim's new little baby boy (almost 3 weeks) Jennifer got up to go greet them and of course Kadance wanted to go with her.

Jennifer informed me that when Kadance saw Kim's little man in his car seat, she just stopped and stared at him. After awhile I got up and went over to say hi to Kim, her Mom and meet Carter. When Kadance saw me walk over she pointed at him and looked at me with these huge eyes. She was so excited, she kept pointing and making a mmmmm mmmmm noise (that's with paci in) like Mama check it out....I want one! (yes, we are thinking very seriously about having number two) Kadance has shown us that she would be a great big sister and loves loves kids and babies!

I finally had to go take a bathroom break and on the way, Kadance and I found the amazing desert table! Jennifer's cousin Jessica's Mom thought Kadance was so cute that she needed a picture in front of all the deserts! Kadance really wasn't into looking at me while taking the pictures, but more interested in Jessica's Mom holding her foot so she didn't fall off the counter.

We then finally were able to go to the bathroom and came out just in time to catch Jennifer for a picture! I then decided to take some pictures of the amazing decorations! Rachel, Jennifer's sister, did an amazing job on all the decor!

While Jennifer unwrapped her gifts Kadance, made sure to enjoy the deserts from the desert bar! The second half of the unwrapping of presents was Kadance examining everything Jennifer got!

Stephanie, Kadance and I were close to the last ones to leave, but before that we took a picture of all the girls that we went to Jr. High with! Yes these girls I have known since Jr.High and some longer than that!

Like a Kid Birthday Bash

The last year of someones 20s......Seth turned 29 on July 11th and I wanted to do something fun, instead of the regular go to a restaurant and have dinner thing. We started brainstorming and I thought, why don't we go to Castle Park in Sherman Oaks and act like kids.....plus bring the kids! We have so many friends and family that have kids, why not make it easy and bring them, so people don't have to find babysitters. Seth agreed to my plan and I sent out the evite that afternoon.
When Friday the 13th came around, Seth, Kadance and I ran a few errands and then headed over to Castle Park. We were there before everyone else, so we played a few games and Kadance found a new love......Ski Ball! =)
Once everyone got there....most everyone, we played mini golf. Half way through the course we started noticing a lot, I mean A LOT of spiders in all the plants and lights surrounding the course, it was nasty!!!! I held Kadance most of the time after realizing that and I only let her down so she could golf. Which by the way she did a great job.....with some of my help! =)
After mini golf, video games and ski ball most of us when over to numero uno to have pizza and beer. So, I guess at the end we did end up at a restaurant LOL

Random Redondo Beach Trip

July 5th kicked off Seth's weekend, so we decided to call up his mom and see what her plans were. She was down at her beach cottage in Redondo and invited us to come visit. We had to run a quick errand and then we headed down. Sadly it was cold and overcast so we didn't end up going to the beach. Instead we took a walk on the boardwalk and went to dinner at a place called Captain Kidd! Once we got back from dinner Jamie suggested we stay the night and hopefully the sun would be out tomorrow. We decided why not, we don't have plans for Friday and good thing we did because it was a prefect beach day!
Kadance loved making sandcastles and watching all the seagulls trying to sneak up and see what people had to snatch. Once we left the beach we went to have lunch and Kadance just knocked out...missed lunch completely, but we got her something for when she woke up. I think we'll be going down to Redondo more often this summer!

Our Independence Day Adventure

Started off our 4th by getting up around 7am, putting our RED WHITE and BLUE on and heading to Acton to watch the annual 4th of July Parade. This year it was their 50th anniversary, so it was longer then the previous years, according to some people that go every year. Kadance was all fancied up with a red tutu, a tie dyed onesie I made her w/ USA in rhinestones and a sparkly bow that I made. She had a great time watching all the horses, goats, cars and Dancin' in Acton's dancers go by (While they were dancing on by, I told Kadance that Mama did that every year when she was younger, for a good 10 years or so) She really didn't respond LOL, I think she was way to mesmerized by the music and them dancing.
After the parade we took naps and then headed over to my friend since 1st grades parent's house for some 4th BBQing and swimming! Then headed to the Antelope Valley to sit in the desert and watch fireworks that were set off from the AV fairgrounds! Finding a place to park and watch the fireworks was an adventure and then even more of an adventure leaving.... There were so so so so many people out...it was just crazy. I think next year we will go somewhere not so so busy (wishful thinking...I know)

Flower Poof Hairpieces

I have started making flower poof hairpieces with fabric! I know there has been a lot of people out there that make these....so they are really nothing new. I am just happy that I got around to finally finding time to make them. This one is for a friend of mines bridesmaid for her wedding in Mexico. Kadance is modeling it the only way Kadance does =) (by not looking at the camera, lol)
